Special Teams of Telangana Drug Control Administration raided Pharmacy shops attached to 11 major hospitals in the city. Dr. Akin Sabharwal, Director Drug Control Administration told that Special Teams consisting of Asst. Director and 3 Drug Inspectors raided Mediciti Hospital, Shahmirpet, Continental Hospital, Gachibowli, Medwin Hospital, Nampally, Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, Kamineni Hospital, L.B. Nagar, Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, Care Hospital, Banjara Hills, Global Hospital, Lakdikapul, Star Hospital, Banjara Hills and Sensation Hospital, Secunderabad.
During the raids, it was found that medicines were being sold at higher prises and in some cases, medicines with expiry date were also being sold. The cases of violation of Drugs Act of 1940 were so detected. Legal action was taken against 6 Hospitals. Pharmacy shops without licence were sealed. The Drug Control Team has decided to raid various pharmacy shops in the city.
