legal metrology department has raided over 60 different shops at the Numaish and about 19 cases were booked by them for not complying with norms. A number of food stalls, kitchenware, outlets selling, dry fruits, crockery were among those that were booked for selling goods whose MRP was marked up.
Additional DGP S. Gopal Reddy, controller of legal metrology department siad that “after receiving complaints from consumers with regard to stall owners are selling goods at rates higher than the MRP and also some goods without any price declaration, About 19 cases were booked under the Legal Metrology Act 2007 and under the Consumer Protection Rules 2011. Inspection was conducted by four teams with six district inspectors and recorded violations.
