Rahul”s visit fruitful: Congress MP

Bhopal, January 21: Lauding Rahul Gandhi”s interaction with student groups here, Congress MP from Mandsaur Meenakshi Natrajan today said the AICC General Secreatary”s two-day visit to the state was “fruitful”.

Gandhi interacted with students from five universities in important cities of the BJP-ruled state during his January 18-19 visit, Natrajan told PTI on phone from New Delhi.

She said the 39-year-old Lok Sabha MP had been touring all over the country and interacting with students and appealing them to join politics. Natrajan, singled out by Gandhi at a press conference here on Tuesday for being in politics without coming from a political family, said there were at least thousands, if not lakhs, of people like her.

The 36-year-old said she was lucky to have become an MP and but pointed out that even without entering Parliament, a large number of people were serving in politics without any political background. She said these people could be elected at the Panchayat-level bodies or State Assemblies.

In some cases, they might be ordinary activists for their parties. “But all of them are in politics and doing very good work.
