Rahul Keen on changing the face of YC-Mani

Hyderabad, August 13: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) general secretary Mrs Jothi Mani has said that the AICC general secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi was keen on changing the face of the Youth Congress, which was running in a traditional way, in to a radical way.

Speaking to the media after a meeting with the office- bearers of the State Youth Congress at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, Mrs Mani said that she would tour the entire state by touching two districts per day to boost the morale of the district Youth Congress leaders aiming to strengthen the organisation. She said that the Youth Congress elections in the State would be completed by the end of July 2011.

Responding to queries, Mrs Mani made it clear that there was no relation between the Kadapa MP Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ‘Odarpu Yatra’ and the Youth Congress, and added that the Youth Congress activists had the freedom to participate in the ‘Odarpu Yatra’. She said, “Youth Congress activists have the freedom to participate in any programme after completing the programmes assigned by the IYC”.

Responding to another question, she said that the high command would take action on any one who violates the party discipline. She also said that the IYC would demand the Congress party to allocate some tickets to contest in the elections depending on the performance of the Youth Congress activists.

When asked why the party was not up to the level in Tamilnadu State, Mrs Mani said that the IYC concentrated on Tamilnadu, her native state, to strengthen the party at grass root level.
