Rahul Gandhi, Uma Bharti missing from their constituencies amid emergency

Posters of Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi have been plastered in Bundelkhand as both are gone out of sight from the region where farmers, devastated by destroyed crops, are being driven to suicide.

To start with, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) allegedly started a slur campaign against Gandhi scion by putting up ‘missing’ posters.

And now, posters of Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti have been plastered in Bundelkhand. It seems that her nonappearance from the region when farmers are committing suicide has angered many. Therefore, they offered a reward for any news about their MP.

Bharti was previously an MLA from Charkhari in Mahoba district. She had started preaching as a child ‘sadhvi’ from Bundelkhand and spent her formative years in Mahoba.

She made many promises to the public before the election.

“Bharti had promised before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections that she will spend maximum time in the region and ensure that the farmers prosper. But, exactly the opposite is happening. She is hardly concerned about the death and suicide of farmers because of nature’s wrath. Her insensitivity is proved by her absence from the area. We want to find her out and so are putting up her missing posters across the region,” said Ram Kishore, a farmer of Jhansi.

“She is mysteriously missing from her own place. Obviously, we want the government and the people to find her out,” said Bharatiya Prajashakti Party leader Pankaj Rawat.
Arpit Maharaj, a local resident who is also involved in pasting ‘missing’ Bharti posters on the walls in Lalitpur and Jhansi, said:

“The BJP leaders are busy in ridiculing Rahul Gandhi for his absence from public life all these weeks. But they cannot see that Bharti is also not in Bundelkhand despite over 60 farmers having either committed suicide or died of shock in the past one month.”
