Asserting that the actions of Bharatiya Janata Party are completely opposite to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his repeated assertions that nothing has been done in the last 60 years.
“They fold their hands before Gandhiji’s ‘Samadhi’ on October 2, but their actions are completely opposite to Gandhiji’s ideology. They forget what Sardar Patel or Gandhiji said, what their ideology is and make their statues. Modiji is doing totally opposite of what Patel had said but is making Patel’s statue,” said Gandhi while addressing a rally in Buldhana.
“We talk about Shivaji Maharaj, Dr. B R Ambedkar and Jyotirao Phule. They all said one thing, they said we have to take the nation forward together by taking everyone along; Congress has the same ideology. But our opposition wants to remove this ideology,” he added.
Reaching out to the electorate, the Congress vice-president said their ancestors have made immense contribution towards building a strong India.
“In the last 60 years, your parents and grandparents have built a strong India. And now your Prime Minister comes here and says that you have done nothing in 60 years and that nothing has happened in India in the last 60 years and he will do it now,” he said.
The election for 288-member Maharashtra Assembly is scheduled to be held on October 15. (ANI)
