Rahul Gandhi meets tea estate workers in West Bengal, scoffs at Modi

New Delhi, Dec. 16 : Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reached out to protesting tea plantation workers in West Bengal, while addressing some of them in New Delhi.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said it is very sad that the Prime Minister talks about ‘chai pe charcha’ but not about the people who gives him that ‘chai'(tea).

“There is talk of development, there are talks about bullet trains, talks about how to change the country but not of people who give their sweat and blood for nation. We don’t want a country where workers are dying from starvation,” he added.

The idea of protest of the workers is aimed at highlighting the dire state of the tea workers of closed and ailing tea gardens in north Bengal at a national level. (ANI)
