Rahul Gandhi likely to visit UP on Mar 26

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Uttar Pradesh on March 26, after party’s debacle in the assembly election. According to party sources here today, Mr Gandhi could visit the state from March 26 but the place of the visit is yet to be disclosed. This would be the first visit of Mr Gandhi after he took responsibility of the defeat of the party in the state. The visit also comes in the backdrop of the promise he made during the campaigning in the state when he said he will ‘continue to serve the people of the state even if people don’t support the Congress.’ UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi has convened a meeting of the state office-bearers here on March 13 to discuss the reasons that led to the party’s defeat in the elections. Ms Joshi, who tendered her resignation as the UPCC chief to party President Sonia Gandhi yesterday, has won the elections from Lucknow (Cantonment) seat.
