Rahul Gandhi gives campaign a Hindu touch in Bhopal

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress president began his roadshow during his day-long visit to the state capital after taking blessings from 11 Hindu priests as he started his party’s campaign in Madhya Pradesh.

The 48-year-old Shiv bhakt or devotee of Lord Shiva, as has been projected by his party workers, sought blessings from Hindu priests and young girls before beginning his roadshow. Thousands of party workers and supporters accompanied him holding the party’s flags as he started the Sankalp Yatra.

Rahul Gandhi was received at the airport by Kamal Nath who is the Madhya Pradesh Congress president and senior party leader and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia among others.

Before getting on a bus for the 15-km-long roadshow, he performed a ‘puja’. Thousands of Congressmen gathered the roadsides just to catch a glimpse of their party chief, who set out on the bus along with senior party leaders.

He recently returned from a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. As part of the pilgrimage, devotees undertake an arduous journey to Mount Kailash, which is considered the abode of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology.
