Rahul Gandhi does not invite Pranab Mukherjee for Iftar party; Cong. denies media buzz

New Delhi: Former President and former senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee has not been invited for the Iftar party to be hosted by Congress President Rahul Gandhi on June 13 at hotel Taj. According to reliable sources, Congress has taken this decision after Pranab Mukherjee attended RSS event. It must be noted that when Pranab Mukherjee had accepted RSS invitation, advisor to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel was the first to meet Pranab Mukherjee and had tried to prevent him from attending RSS event. Besides senior Congress leader C K Jaffar Shareef and ex-Delhi Chief Minister Shila Dixit’s son and former MP Sandeep Dixit also objected to Pranab Mukherjee’s decision and had tried to stop him; but Pranab Mukherjee went to Nagpur and addressed RSS function.

According to reliable sources, the decision of not inviting Pranab Mukherjee has been taken by Congress high command while leaders of all the opposition parties, former Vice President Hamed Ansari, ex-PM Dr Manmohan Singh and others are being invited.

Meanwhile, the Congress has rebuffed the reports and clarified that the veteran leader had been invited and graciously accepted it.
