Rahul Gandhi arrives to address youth delegates

New Delhi, January 21: All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi arrived here on Friday to take part in a national executive meet of the Indian Youth Congress, under way at the Shantigiri Ashramam in Edathala near Aluva.

Mr. Gandhi arrived in an Indigo flight (6E 315) from Delhi and emerged from the airport in a car through an exit near the domestic terminal, accompanied by a huge convoy of security vehicles.

Youth Congress national president Rajiv Satav, its general secretary Rizwan Arshad, state president P.C.Vishnunath and president of the National Students Union Hybi Eaden were at the airport to receive Mr. Gandhi. However, no senior leaders of the Congress party in the state were present.

Prior to his arrival here, some top police officials including the rural S.P T.Vikram apart from a contingent of the Special Protection Group, had reached the spot to oversee the security arrangements put in place for him.

Airport sources said he would return by a Jetlite flight (S2 256) to Delhi, scheduled at 4.40 in the evening.
