Rahul Bhatt not suspect, Emraan link emerges in Headley probe

New Delhi, November 17: After Rahul Bhatt, alleged LeT activist Headley’s direct links to Bollywood have emerged. Reports indicate he met Mahesh Bhatt’s nephew and actor Emraan Hashmi as also Bollywood siren Kangana Ranaut.

Sources have revealed David Coleman Headley first met with Emraan Hashmi at a pub in Bandra n 2008. He was introduced to Hashmi by cousin Rahul Bhatt. Headley again met Hashmi on the sets of ‘Woh Lamhe’ There he was also introduced to Kangana Ranaut.

Rahul Bhatt is under scanner for links with Headley and his associate Tahawwur Hussain Rana who are in the custody of FBI for terror conspiracy against Indian targets. National Investigation Agency may also question Hashmi in this regard.

However, Home Ministry sources have denied that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing Rahul Bhatt as a suspect in the case. ‘He is an eyewitness,’ an MHA source told.

Following media reports on the duo- Headley and Rana- Rahul had voluntarily approached the city police with information that he was acquainted with Headley, and how he had wanted to rent a flat in Mumbai.

A realty consultant from Bandra, Sunny Singh had said that he was approached by Headley to hire out a flat in Pali Hill, Bandra. Home Secretary GK Pillai on Sunday had ruled out any possibility of giving clean chit to any one in the case, including Mahesh Bhatt’s son Rahul. On Monday there were media reports that the gym instructor had been asked by investigating agencies to not leave Mumbai.

However, Mahesh Bhatt categorically denied such reports.

On Friday, in Chandigarh, Hashmi, the leading man in many of Bhatt’s films as also the latest ‘Tum Mile’, said the family was willing to provide full cooperation.

“I spoke to Mahesh Bhatt and he said this is a matter of national security and the family will give whatever details it has to the investigators,” Hashmi said.

According to the NIA, Headley and Rana closely knew eight Bollywood personalities, including two actresses.

The NIA believes that they were introduced to the film personalities by Rahul Bhatt, son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.
