Hyderabad, November 02: Senior TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has criticised AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi for urging chief minister K Rosaiah to regulate micro finance Institutions (MFIs) such that they lend loans to SHGs at reasonable rates.
”It is ridiculous that the young MP is asking Rosaiah who had no power at all while leaving his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and RBI who can in fact deal with the issue,’’ he observed.
Stating that SKS Microfinance net profit went up from Rs 2 crore in 2008 to Rs 174 crore in 2010, he sought to know whether Rahul gave a clean chit to SKS for its profits or driving 10 persons a day to suicides?
The TDP leader pointed out that Rahul Gandhi appreciated SKS saying it was benefiting public a lot, during his visit to AP four years ago.
“Sonia Gandhi presented best entrepreneur award to SKS chief Akula Vikram. They should make it clear whether he was given award for expanding his business empire or for claiming over 100 lives in just two months,’’ the TDP leader demanded.
“Rahul urging Rosaiah to rein in MFIs leaving all the powerful gives enough hints that he doesn’t want any sanctions to be imposed on MFIs,’’ Yanamala said in a statement released here on Monday. He demanded the government to issue a white paper on MFI loans.
