Raheja case: ACB books case against six

Hyderabad, February 23: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday booked a case against six persons, including four top government officials on charges of causing more than Rs.500 crore loss to the State exchequer by reducing the Government’s stake in a joint venture with the Raheja Corporation Limited.
The case was registered against four government officials — IT principal secretary K. Ratna Prabha, special secretary Gopi Krishna and joint secretary P.S. Murthy, and the then APIIC Managing Director and present principal secretary (Home) B.P. Acharya along with Raheja IT Park MD Neil Raheja and Raheja Mind Space head B. Rabindranath. ACB Director-General Umesh Kumar said a case under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and Section 11 and 12 of Prevention of Corruption Act read with Section 34 of IPC were registered against six persons following a directive from the ACB court.

After registering a case, the ACB officials had also collected some records from the Information Technology and Communication (ITC) department, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and from the Raheja Company as part of the investigations. Referring to a petition filed by an advocate T. Sriranga Rao, the court has sent a notice to the ACB Director-General on Saturday directing it to register a case against the six persons.
