Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy on Sunday demanded that stern action be taken against former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy who allegedly bribed a judge to get bail in the illegal mining case.
Talking to reporters while participating in the by-elections campaign in Raidurgam constituency for Congress candidate Patil Venugopal Reddy, the Revenue Minister said that it was unfortunate that Janardhan Reddy bribed the judge T Pattabhirama Rao to secure a bail in the Obulapuram Mining Corporation’s illegal mining case. He said Gali should be severely punished for this act of corruption.
Raghuveera Reddy said that the entire episode of Gali bribing a judge left a bad impression upon the people who might lose their faith from the judiciary. However, he denied the allegations that Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy was involved in the bribery episode. Describing the allegations against Erasu as baseless, he demanded that the CBI investigate into the matter to ascertain the facts into the case.
The minister also appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates and reject corrupt politicians in the ensuing by-elections. (INN)
