CPM State secretary BV Raghavulu has stressed the need for the Left parties to put up a united fight in the coming Local Body elections, to protect the existing strength of the Left parties in the State.
Raghavulu, on Wednesday, addressed a letter to the CPI State secretary Dr K Narayana in this regard, explaining the decision taken by the CPM in its State Executive Committee meeting. In his letter, he pointed out that the main parties were neck deep in opportunistic politics and corrupt practices. They were using the people as vote bank in the name of caste, religion and regional feelings. There was a need for the Left parties, which have the vast experience in people’s movements, to unite the people to fight against the social ills.
Stating that his party had participated in the recent bye-elections to protect the party base, Raghavulu has welcomed the CPI to contest the forthcoming Local Body elections together with the CPM.
Raghavulu condemned Dr Narayana’s article written to a newspaper recently, and said that Narayana has said that Raghavulu has asked CPI to rethink on extending support to the TDP. Raghavulu made it clear that he never asked Narayana to rethink on supporting the TDP. (NSS)
