Rafael Benitez favourite to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid

Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has emerged as the favourite candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s manager.

Ancelotti is expected to leave the post after the team’s final match against Getafe at the weekend, despite having one year left of the contract, the BBC has reported.

Napoli boss Benitez is ready to leave the Serie A outfit after taking charge of their final league game against Juventus.

Talks have been going on between both parties, with Benitez contract to end next month, although no agreement has been reached as yet.

Benitez began his coaching career at Real Madrid B and has also managed Valladolid, Osasuna, Extremadura, Tenerife, Valencia and Inter Milan.

He famously led Liverpool to victory in the 2005 Champions League final and also tasted success in the FA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. (ANI)
