Rachabanda evoking good response in state: CM

Hyderabad, February 07: Rachabanda taken up by the state government has been evoking good response from public, according to a press release by the chief minister’s office. The programme is being conducted successfully in spite of stray incidents and minor disturbances like boycotts which are confined to Telangana districts alone. People have been participating in large numbers and responding very enthusiastically, the release added. In the programmes held so far, people, particularly, women in large numbers greeted the chief minister and other ministers.

Rachabanda was conducted in 16,370 gram panchayats till Feb 5. The number of villages which boycotted the programme were 1,319 — 8% of the total panchayats.

So far, 3.08 lakh ration cards were given to beneficiaries. In all, 9,55,942 pensions were given and 2.10 lakh women benefited under Abhayahastam.

1.61 lakh houses were sanctioned and 89,000 patta certificates were given. Around 2.12 lakh persons were given Arogyasri cards and 1.32 lakh persons were given job cards under MGNREGS. Similarly, Rs 228 crore was given to SHG members under ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme as on Saturday under Rachabanda.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will participate in the programmes in Prakasam and Guntur districts on Feb 7. He will participate in Rachabanda at Borabanda in Hyderabad on Feb 8.

It may be recalled that the chief minister launched Rachabanda in the state at Rajam-Dolapet nagara panchayat in Srikakulam district on Jan 24.
