Hyderabad, February 08: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s tour of Kadapa on February 11 for the Rachabanda programme is being taken as a matter of prestigious by Congress leaders in the district. Anticipating trouble from the loyalists of former MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress leaders are leaving no stone unturned to make the programme a grand success.
Health minister DL Ravindra Reddy held a meeting with Kadapa Congress leaders in his chambers at the Secretariat today to devise strategies to ensure the success of the programme. Minorities welfare minister Mohd Ahmadullah, 20-Point Programme Committee chairman N Tulasi Reddy, Kamalapuram MLA G Veerasiva Reddy and other leaders attended.
Though the discussions revolved around the arrangements for the Rachabanda programme at Duvvuru village, the ensuing byelections in the district also were discussed. They decided to use the opportunity to show their strength in the district and attract more Congressmen into their fold.
While speaking to reporters Ravindra Reddy sounded confident that the Congress would win the Kadapa Loksabha and Pulivendula Assembly byelections. Describing Jaganmohan Reddy as an individual, he said the Congress was a force backed by people.
“The only power Jaganmohan Reddy has and not the Congress does not have is money. But we will overcome his money power with people’s support,” the minister claimed.
