Mumbai, June 11: To tap the regional market, filmmaker Mani Ratnam will also release its much-awaited ‘Raavan’ starring Bollywood couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in its Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions in US.
The Tamil version, shot simultaneously with Hindi, is titled ‘Raavanan’ while the dubbed Telugu version is called ‘Villain’ with actors Vikram, Aishwarya and Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead roles.
The film has been co-produced by Ratnam’s banner Madras Talkies. The music in the film has been given by Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman.
A Big Picture release, the film will be released on June 18 in more than 40 screens across 30 cities in Tamil and Telegu across the US, with the producers claiming it as one of
the biggest releases for a South Indian film in US.
Noting that there is a vast audience for regional Indian Cinema outside of India and particularly in the US, Reliance MediaWorks CEO, Anil Arjun said, “We are dedicated to
bringing these quality regional Indian language films to new markets where there are audiences waiting to be entertained.”
