Hyderabad, August 13: Youth having religious passion had taken over the 400 year old Qutub Shahi mosque on March 25which had been deserted since long time. Since then prayer is offered regularly in that mosque. Taraveeh prayer is also performed. The mosque is 90 percent dilapidated and only the pulpit (minbar) remains. Neither there is flooring in the mosque nor does it have roof. Though the waqf board and Municipal Corporation have given permission for construction but the Rajendarnagar police is creating obstruction.
Mosque committee seeks peaceful settlement. Presently the mosque needs shade since the worshipers face difficulty because of rain. Since there is no flooring the prayer mats are getting spoiled. If the minority welfare minister visits the mosque the issue can be easily resolved.
