Qutub Shahi Masjid at Gulshan Colony, Towlichowki damaged in rains

Qutub Shahi Masjid situated at Gulshan Colony in Towlichowki was affected in the recent rains. A portion of its minaret got damaged. The officials of the Dept. of Archeology have been neglecting this mosque for the past 15 years. Weeds have grown around this mosque. Snakes are found in the grass. The local residents informed that an estimate of Rs. 9.5 lakh was prepared for its repairs but the Department of Archeology did not take any action so far.

It is reported that Agha Khan Foundation for Culture had executed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dept. of Archeology and Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority for the renovation of Qutub Shahi tombs and other mosques in the vicinity but someone approached the Wakf Tribunal and as a result of it the renovation work was stopped.
