Qutub Shahi and Asif Jahi periods applauded, Forum for Better Hyderabad releases broacher

Hyderabad: On the occasion of International Environment Day, Forum for Better Hyderabad organized its 16th Foundation Day celebrations at Administrative Staff College of India, Somajiguda yesterday. The function was presided over by M. Veda Kumar, President of the Forum. It was attended by Padma Shri Awardee Artiste, Laxma Goud, Director of  CCMB, Dr. Rakesh K Mishra, Director of ASCII and others. The speakers expressed their views on the changes of Environment system. The 16th issue of the Journal of the Forum was released by Padma Shri Laxma Goud. General Secretary of the Forum presented the report. Mr. Sanamitra Malik conducted the meeting.


Mr. Veda Kumar told that for the past two decades, in the name of development, Environmental system is being disturbed. In the name of Batkamma and Ganesh festivals, the major water reservoir is being damaged. Mr. Veda Kumar blamed modern technology and social institutions for these destructions. In his speech, he applauded the periods of Qutub Shahi and Asif  Jahi Kings. He pointed out that the theory of smaller cities would be effective in protecting the environment. Developmental activities should be started at the outskirts of the city.


Dr. Laxma Goud told that in the name of constructing high-rise buildings on the models of China and Singapore will not be tolerated. It will amount to damaging the historical heritages of the city.


Prof. Srinivas Chari pointed out that 55% of drinking water is being wasted through leakage which should be prevented. He also stressed the need to store rain water. He condemned the use of modern technology for cleaning Musi River.
