Islam has protected our rights 1400 years ago, women have a higher status than men in Islam, the paradise lies under our feet, we have been given the status of queens of the house. While Islam has given men the right to give Talaq, it has also given women the right to seek khula. Islamic scholar Naheed Talat told this while speaking at Tahaffuz Shariah wa Islah-e-Mashera conference. She said before today no other government dared to interfere into shariah. She said hatred towards Islam and Islamic laws is just due to ignorance. Hence we should introduce our shariah to those who raise objections.
Nazim Amarat-e-Shariah, Maulana Aneesur Rahman Qasmi said this is a democratic country and our constitution has given us religious right. Muslims follow their shariah and will continue to do so. Earlier it was conspired to send Muslim men to jail, now it is being tried to fill the jail with Muslim men through this new Act.
Mufti Sanaullah Qasmi said we should unitedly foil this plan to change Islamic shariah. Muslim sisters should come forward to do this.
Referring to the statistics Huda Shahzad said the ratio of Talaq among Muslims is far low than other communities, despite that, the matter is deliberately being stretched. He appealed Muslims to solve the Talaq and inheritance issues through shariah court instead of moving to the Court. The women who moved to court on the issue did it due to ignorance.
Dr. Ghazala Imam said if husband and wife know their rights there won’t be any problems.
