Quraish community’s campaign to curb extravagant expenses in marriages

Hyderabad: All India Jamiatul Quraish in its General Body meeting decided to launch a campaign for curbing extravagant expenses in marriages. It has decided to make only one meal and one sweet dish to be served in marriages in order to avoid extra expenses and to make marriage simple. It has also taken a decision that those who violate this principle would be fined Rs. 50, 000.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Mohammed Saleem, TRS MLC. An important decision was taken to make a representation to the CM to stop harassment to the traders of big animals.

Talking to newsmen yesterday, Mr. Saleem told that the purpose of this decision is to make Muslim marriages simple and to stop unnecessary expenditure. He further told that in order to save ourselves from the wrath of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) we have to abandon unnecessary rituals in marriages. “Sanchaq” ceremony won’t be celebrated in marriage halls. All such marriages would be boycotted in which dowry has been taken.

Mr. Saleem further told that this decision would be implemented scrupulously. A monitoring committee would be setup to watch marriages ceremonies. Bursting of crackers and musical programs on the occasions of marriages won’t be accepted. The purpose of such restrictions is to save extra expenses of the poor persons who are unable to perform marriages on a grand scale.

Serious concern was expressed on the incidents of harassments to the traders of big animals at the entry points of the bordering districts of Telangana. Mr. Saleem assured that he would make a representation to the CM, Home Minister and DGP.

The meeting was attended by a large number of members including Mr. Abdul Qadir, General Secretary, Mr. Khaja Pasha, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood, Mr. Moinuddin Quraishi, Hameed Chowdary, Mr. Ismail, Advocate, Mr. Nawab and others.
