The Telangana State government will offer reservations for women to get into the Police department, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has said.
During his tour in Medak district, Harish Rao paid a visit to a training center of Friendly Policing which offered training to 470 personnel. Speaking on the occasion, he said the government would conduct a recruitment drive for police wing to fill 900 Sub-Inspector posts and 1,500 constable posts in the Telangana State. A notification will be issued soon for the purpose, he said. The State government was trying to offer reservation for the women to join the Police department, the minister maintained.
The minister also disclosed that Rs 37 lakh was sanctioned from Chief Minister Relief Fund to impart training. “We will also provide free training to those interested to join the police wing in Gajwel”, he said. Harish Rao gave away books to 470 persons, who have undergone training from the institute. He exuded confidence that reservation for women will prove handy. (NSS)
