Moghal ruler Shahinshah Aurangzeb was a just, righteous and brave king. His period is remembered as golden period during Moghal rule. Aurangzeb had made Haji Nawab Khaja Abid Siddiqui Khan, Cheen Qulij Khan Bahadur, the subedar of his army. Qulij Khan Bahadur was an honest, faithful and devoted person. He was also very intelligent, farsighted and steadfast. Shahinshah Aurangzeb had so much faith in him that he brought Qulij Khan Bahadur with him on the 2nd siege of Golconda Fort on January 28, 1687.
While laying the siege a bullet of a cannon from Golconda Fort hit Qulij Khan’s shoulder and his hand detached from his body and fell off at a distance. He went back to his tent. Badshah Aalamgir sent his Prime Minister Asad Khan to enquire the well being of Qulij Khan. To his surprise the prime minister saw that, while removing off the broken bones from Qulij Khan’s shoulder the bonesetter is stitching his wound and Qulij Khan with much patience is drinking ‘ghava’ from his other hand. Though tried hard for his treatment he succumbed to his injuries 3 days after the incident on February 7, 1687.
Shahinshah Aurangzeb was very much grieved by his death and asked to bury him at the place where his mazar exists today. The Waqf record of the mazar is as follows: R/R 493, 1) Dargah Hazrat Qulij Khan Sahab, 2) Two mosque, 3) sama Khana with compound inside abadi, manda 2, Rajendra Nagar, Village, Khismat pur, Area 6-24, acres 20m, gaz no date 6-a, dt 9-2-89.
