Quli Qutub Shah’s 450th birthday today

Hyderabad: Deccan Heritage Trust has decided to celebrate 450th birthday of the founder of Hyderabad city, Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah today.

 

The trust has decided to continue these celebrations for the entire year. It also requested the Govt. of India to issue a commemorative postal stamp and a coin in honour of Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah. He had founded this city in 1591. He ruled Deccan for 31 years. During the last king of Qutub Shahi Dynasty, Sultan Abul Hasan Tanashah, Moghal Emperor, Aurangzeb conquered this kingdom.

 

Quli Qutub Shah was well versed with Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Telugu. He also composed verses in Telugu and Urdu.
