“Quit India” stir inspired Telangana movement: Jithender

TRS Member of Parliament Jithender Reddy today said “Quit India Movement” was inspirational to Telangana movement for Statehood.

Talking at Parliament House during a program held to mark 75th anniversary of “Quit India Movement” that liberated India from the shackles of British colonial rule, the MP said statehood movement achieved Telangana after a protracted 14 years fight by the TRS. He stressed the need for eradicating corruption, untouchability, casteism and religious intolerance from the society. “Indeed, this is the time to get inspired from the “Quit India Movement” to eliminate the social evils”, Jithender Reddy remarked.

He also drew a comparison between Indian freedom movement and Telangana Statehood movement. Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and other great personalities fought for Independence. In a similar manner, Prof. Jayashankar and Srikantha Chary and others sacrificed their lives for achieving Telangana State, he added. (NSS)
