Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Thursday said the question was not whether Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministerial candidate for Delhi Kiran Bedi is a good individual, but what kind of forces she has joined.
“He (Shanti Bhushan) is a senior member of the AAP family and it is not good to argue with an elderly person. People can have different opinions about how Kiran Bedi is as a person, but the primary question is with what kind of forces she is standing with today,” said Yadav.
“I cannot understand how Shanti Bhushan can possibly approve of Kiran Bedi joining a party that he calls communal even today. I most respectfully disagree with what he said and I hope Prashant Bhushan also thinks the same,” he added.
Earlier in the day, senior AAP leader Shanti Bhushan came out in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s chief ministerial candidate for Delhi, Kiran Bedi .
Bhushan hailed Bedi for her contribution in the ‘India Against Corruption’ movement, and said she would provide a very clean and efficient administration in Delhi.
Bhushan added that all was not well within the AAP and even stated that the party should be happy if the former IPS officer becomes the chief minister of Delhi.
The senior leader also called for a reorientation within AAP stating they must stress on “reforming political system and improving political standards”.
The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10.
