Port-au-Prince, February 16: Port-au-Prince airport is set to reopen Friday for regular flights, for the first time since a massive earthquake devastated much of Haiti Jan 12.
A US Air Force spokesman said that Haiti incoming passenger planes from Canada and France were expected to land in Port-au-Prince Friday.
The airport’s control tower suffered serious damage in the quake. Later, the US military set up a provisional control centre there, so that planes carrying aid for quake victims could land in the Haitian capital.
Haitian authorities were gradually to take back control over the airport.
