Qatar: Hacking of official news website, Qatar News Agency’s on Tuesday, called in for investigation for a false statement attributed to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, inviting people condemning the reported speech.
Qatar government denied comments regarding fake news broadcasted about the country’s leader expressing support to terrorism, Hamas, Hezbollah, Israel, Iran as well as suggesting US President will not be last in power.
“There are international laws governing such crimes, especially the cyber attack. [The hackers] will be prosecuted according to the law,” Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s foreign minister, said in Doha on Wednesday.
Criticizing ‘Fake News’ from Donald Trump to Theresa May to Vladimir Putin were found to be shown on Sky News Arabia and Al Arabiya news both UAE- based broadcasters, inviting condemn from people.
Though the Qatar government dismissed the rumors relating to the fake news shown, Sky News Arabia and Al Arabiya kept broadcasting the discredited story, as reported by Al Jazeera.
