Hyderabad, January 13: The managements of private engineering colleges have urged the State government to release the arrears under tuition fee reimbursement scheme to the tune of Rs 3,000 crores by the end of this month.
A delegation of private engineering colleges managements, led by their association president, Mr Malakonda Reddy, met the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, in the Secretariat on Thursday in this regard.
The delegation told the Chief Minister that they were giving free education to some two lakh students studying in some 700 engineering colleges in the State. They have pleaded with the Chief Minister to arrange payment of entire tuition fee arrears to the private engineering colleges by the end of this month as they have to repay bank loans and disburse salaries to the college teachers. They also urged the Chief Minister to help complete the process of counseling for engineering students in June by clearing the arrears.
