Pvt colleges told not to hold entrance tests

Hyderabad, May 15: Private junior colleges have been strictly advised to admit students into first year Intermediate course based on marks obtained in the SSC examination and other equivalent qualifying examination. Stringent action will be initiated against junior colleges conducting admission or entrance tests. The classes for first and second year Intermediate course will commence from June 1.

In a release, the Board of Intermediate Education officials warned the principals of private/unaided junior colleges to take admission only upto a sanctioned strength of 88 students per section. Any violations without obtaining prior permission from the Board for additional sections, will be dealt with severely. The private college managements were also advised against issuing any advertisements with inducements for students.

Further, the first phase of admissions will commence from May 28 into government, aided, unaided, cooperative, AP Residential, AP Social Welfare Residential, AP Tribal Welfare Residential and incentive junior colleges along with composite degree colleges offering two year Intermediate course in general and vocational streams for the year 2010-11. Admissions into all government junior colleges and residential junior colleges will be based on reservation rules.
