The Criminal Court in Nampally on Thursday remanded Gowri Shankar Gupta, who allegedly duped the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority by invoking the name of realtor major DLF, to judicial custody till July 12.
The court remanded him to judicial custody when the City Crime Station police produced Gowri Shankar Gupta in the court. Earlier, the court refused permission to the police to send Gupta into judicial remand as he was brought in an ‘unconscious’ state to the court. The court directed the police to admit the accused to hospital and bring him back for remand after his condition improves.
Following directions from the court, the police admitted him to Osmania General Hospital. After his condition improved, the officials produced him in the court.
Gupta, owner of PVR Malls, was absconding since DLF lodged a complaint with the Detective Department of Central Crime Station for deliberately cheating DLF to the tune of Rs 280 crore by inducing DLF to invest in some of the real estate development projects taken up by the GSG Group of Companies. Earlier, the police issued look out notice for Gupta as the Nampally court refused to grant anticipatory bail to him. (INN)
