PVNR Expressway needs repairs

Hyderabad, November 11: Certain stretches on the 11.6 km P V Narasimha Rao Elevated Expressway needs minor repairs.

Experts from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) which carried out Bump Integrated Test (BIT) on the elevated corridor on two occasions a few days ago found that the structure is fit for driving as the bumps which are noticed on the flyover are within the permissible limits and suggested few rectifications at certain points.

The JNTU team submitted report to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in which they suggested rectification at two joints 24 and 216 as they are said to be severe in nature.

They also suggested minor rectification works at 12 joints on the stretch.

Speaking to Express, HMDA officials said that JNTU experts carried out the test at 35 km per hour twice. They found that bumps were between 2,000 and 2,500 MM/KM which is normal.

As per the norms, 2,000 to 2,500 bumps are standard in a 1 km stretch and these are not noticed while the driving. If the bumps are more than 3,000 to 3,500 there is need for rectification, they said.

As per the recommendations of JNTU, the HMDA will carry out rectification works from November 11 and plans to complete by this monthend.

During the rectification works, vehicles would be allowed to ply on the expressway.
