Putin says ready to increase anti-terror cooperation with Iran after Ahvaz attack: Kremlin

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani over Saturday’s deadly terrorist attack in the Iranian southwestern city of Ahvaz and expressed his readiness to develop bilateral counter-terrorist cooperation, the Kremlin said.

The attack took place earlier in the day during a military parade and claimed the lives of at least 24 people, according to media reports.

“Accept my deepest condolences over the tragic consequences of a terrorist raid on the city of Ahvaz. We are outraged by this bloody crime. We expect that all those involved in the crime will be punished accordingly. What happened once again reminds us of the necessity of an uncompromising fight against terrorism in all its forms. I would like to confirm our readiness to further enhance cooperation with our Iranian partners on countering this evil,” Putin said in his message to Rouhani.
