Refuting the allegations on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Yadav, who has been booked in connection with the alleged sacrilege of the Quran in Malerkotla, the party’s in charge of Punjab affairs, Sanjay Singh on Monday said Punjab will uproot “Badal Pvt. Limited”.
“Badal’s government is trying to threaten us through Naresh Yadav. I just want to say to the Badal government that we are not going to be scared with all this. Put how much ever allegations you want to, put us behind bars, we will not be scared. Our fight will continue. It is just the matter of five months, after that, Punjab will throw “Badal Pvt. Ltd.” from its roots,” Singh told ANI here.
“Badal is conspiring against Naresh Yadav under the influence of the RSS. He is being targetted. Naresh Yadav has cooperated with the police, took part in the investigation. After which the police gave a statement that there is no prove against Naresh Yadav and he will not be called for interrogation,” he added.
Before being arrested, Yadav had yesterday asserted that he would cooperate with the police in the investigation.
Yadav was booked under relevant Sections of the IPC after one of the accused, Vijay Kumar, arrested in connection with the incident, claimed that he had done it at the behest of the AAP MLA.
The AAP MLA has been questioned twice in connection with this case by the Punjab Police earlier.
The Mehrauli MLA and his party have denied the charges and alleged it to be a ‘political conspiracy’ to malign the party’s image ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls.
A court in Punjab had earlier on Saturday issued a warrant against Yadav.
Tension flared in the area during the Islamic holy month of Ramzan as news spread that torn pages from the Quran were found in a drain in front of a cemetery.
Earlier, party spokesperon Ashish Khetan had landed in trouble in Punjab when he compared the party’s manifesto to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the religious scripture of the Sikhs.
