Chandigarh: In view of media reports that former Senior Superintendent of Police Raj Jit Singh is likely to flee the country, the Vigilance Bureau of Punjab Police issued a look-out for him.
Singh is required for questioning in connection with an FIR that claimed some alleged drug smugglers managed to get a clean chit in the chemical examination of certain drugs seized from them as a result of the complicity of the lab staff.
The FIR was lodged at PS Flying Squad, Vigilance Bureau in 2015.
The FIR also has allegations against Inspector Inderjit Singh who has been dismissed, along with Ran Jit Singh. Both were posted in Tarn Taran.
It is also alleged that Inderjit, on being tipped off, called the lab staff for questioning. Instead of arresting the main accused Jagdeep Singh, he made him an approver in the case.
According to the police spokesperson, there was exchange of money in the process.
The Vigilance Bureau’s lookout notice has been sent to the Punjab Police Intelligence Bureau and will be dispatched to airports and other exit points to stop the suspect, Raj Jit, from escaping.
“We have received strict instructions from the Chief Minister to ensure action not only in pending matters but also new allegations that have surfaced in recent days against certain police personnel,” said the police spokesperson.
After his transfer from Moga, Raj Jit is currently posted as commandant 4th battalion Mohali. (ANI)
