Punjab Govt Coming Out Of Denial About Threat From Militants: Qureshi

Islamabad, June 09: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the next priority of the government would be clear out the safe heavens of militants in North Waziristan. He said Pakistan would decided the timing of the operation according its resources.

Qureshi expressed these thoughts during an interview with British Broadcasting Channel in Istanbul. He informed that after consolidating position in South Waziristan the government would then target North Waziristan. He informed that the militants have fled to Somalia and Yemen from Malakand and Swat.

In a reply to a question he added that Punjab government has also realized the serious threat of terrorism after a string of attacks on the provincial capital during the past few weeks. He added that Pakistan can help Afghanistan in a better manner as compared to India.

Qureshi said that both India and Pakistan need time to overcome the trust deficit.
