Patiala, August 15: Punjab Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia today said that the state government has sought a special economic package from the Centre.
Speaking to PTI, Kalia said that Punjab should be given special economic package for promotion of agro industries and added that four textile parks, foundry and machine tolls cluster at Batala had been approved by the Centre.
He said that 20 clusters for micro, small and medium enterprises were proposed to be set up in the state.
The Industry minister also said that two centres of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) were opened at Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
He further added that Punjab would not oppose if Himachal Pardesh and Jammu and Kashmir would get economic package regarding hydro power projects and fruit based industries.
