Punishment to rioters of 1984 violence; power to perpetrators of Gujarat pogrom: Mohammad Azam Khan

Rampur: Former cabinet minister Azam Khan MLA in his written statement questioned why the rioters of 1984 violence were given punishment while the rioters of the Gujarat massacre got power. He said the former Congress Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar has been sentenced to life imprisonment and was imposed a fine of 5 lakhs. This is an admonishment for people spreading violence and doing injustice.

Azam Khan said the Delhi High Court in its judgement has also mentioned that people of the minority community were also killed in the Sikh riots of 1984 besides Gujarat riots of 2002 and Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013 as they were attacked in other riots. He alleged that the criminals got political backing and escaped.

The former minister told that Muslims the largest minority of the country want to know why they should have faith in the judiciary and to what extent? They also want to know while the Delhi High Court made the remark, SIT Gujarat and CBI removed the names of rioters. By doing so did they brought honour to the Court or shame?
