Punishment to convicts of anti-Muslim Gujarat riots insufficient: Amjadullah Khan Khalid

10 years after the anti-Muslim Gujarat riots, a special court, on the findings of special investigation team, pronounced an important judgment on Naroda Patiya massacre case of 2002 riots and awarded 18 years of imprisonment to former minister of Narendra Modi government Maya Kodnani and life imprisonment till death to former VHP leader Babu Bajrangi.

Terming the punishment as insufficient, corporator Amjadullah Khan Khalid said with the said judgment it seems that the Muslim blood has gone very cheap. However terming the judgment as ‘better late than never’ he said that pronouncing the judgment is easy but implementing it would be very difficult.

He exuded confidence on country’s judiciary and hoped that the ruling Congress will implement punishment against the convicts and recompense for their evil deeds.
