Punia dubs Alirajpur Dalit incident as ‘unconstitutional’

Congress leader P.L. Punia on Sunday termed the Alirajpur incident, wherein few Dalits in the area alleged that they were not allowed to use a public borewell, as ‘unconstitutional’ adding that the Madhya Pradesh Government did not like people who supported the scheduled caste.

“This is wrong, unconstitutional and a crime. We will make sure that he people who are responsible for this are investigated. Madhya Pradesh Government does not like people that support the Dalits,” Punia told ANI.

“The Government is only with the ‘Dabangg’ people,” he added.

Earlier, Dalits of Alirajpur district in Madhya Pradesh alleged that they were not allowed to use a public borewell and have to drink dirty water of a disused well.

Following this, over 200 Dalit residents of the village recently met Collector Shekhar Verma and demanded that a separate borewell be dug for them. (ANI)
