Pune woman dies of swine flu, toll rises to 28

Pune, August 17: A 36-year-old woman died of swine flu in Sasson hospital in Pune late on Sunday night, official sources said. With this, the death toll due to the disease rose to 28 across the country.

The woman named Bina Gonsalves was admitted to the hospital on August 13 with suspected swine flu symptoms, sources said. This is the thirteenth swine flu death in Pune.

Swine flu continues to spread across the country as 152 fresh cases were reported on Sunday taking the total number of positive cases to 1707.

“One Hundred and fifty two positive cases have been reported today of which Mumbai reported the highest with 60 cases,” Health Ministry officials said.

Pune reported 18 cases. Delhi and Chennai reported 11 cases while Bangalore and Coimbatore have 10 each. Nine cases were reported in Aurangabad. While Ernakulam and Mangalore reported three cases each, Akola, Devangere, and Jalna reported two cases each.

Ahmadnagar, Solapur, Latur, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Dhule, Belgaum, Hubli, Hrudyalaya (Karnataka), Dibrugarh (Assam), and Shimla report one case each, the officials said.
