Punctuality, discipline & culture very important for politicians: VP

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today opined that punctuality, discipline and culture were very important to political leaders, he said and alleged that transparency and responsibility lacked in the present-day politics, he said.

Speaking here during felicitation to former chief minister and former governor K Rosaiah, Venkaiah observed that democratic foundations would be strong with stable governments. He exhorted political parties to introspect their affairs in the Legislative Houses and stressed the need for them to respect each other in a democracy. The entire world was looking towards India with regard to spirituality and development, he said and called upon the people to protect culture and traditions.

T Subbirami Reddy Lalithakala Parishath presented ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ to former AP chief minister and former Tamil Nadu governor K Rosaiah through the hands of Venkaiah Naidu. The Kala Parishath honored Rosaiah with a Gajamala and a Swarna Kankanam.

Stating that there were no enemies in politics and only opponents, the Vice-President eulogized Rosaiah saying the latter was a multi-talented personality and work-minded. Reminding his association with Rosaiah, Venkaiah said Rosaiah was a committed worker and worked with clarity and cool mind.

Replying to the felicitation, Rosaiah said his political career started with Jai Andhra movement and Venkaiah became his friend. Subbirami Reddy said the credit of taking Telugu pride to international level goes to Venkaiah and Rosaiah. He praised Rosaiah for working as Finance Minister for record time. (NSS)
