Pulse polio campaign on Jan 23, Feb 27

Hyderabad, January 13:Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner, Health and Sanitation Aleem Basha and District Medical and Health Officer Meena Kumari on Wednesday stated that the first round of Pulse Polio immunization drive will be conducted on January 23 for children in the 0-5 years group at all polio booths established in the state.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of Health Ministers Conference in the city, they said about 6.60 lakh children are expected to be immunized in the drive in the city.

A total of 3,200 polio booths will be established and 65 mobile teams arranged in and around the city.

House to house visits by teams between January 24 to 26 would ensure that all children in the state are covered by the immunization programme.

The second round of immunization would be conducted on February 27. All the polling stations of previous election booths have been earmarked as as polio posts (792 notified and 209 non-notified) and 1001 slums are identified as high risk areas and one polio booth is arranged in each of the slum, the officials said.

They said 64 mobile teams will be administering polio drops to children at construction sites, markets, temples, churches, Gurudwaras and mosques.

Polio booths will be arranged at all railway and bus stations and they will work round the clock, they said.

Publicity will given through banners, cassettes, cinema slides scrolling through electronic media and messages through mobiles and erection of hydrogen balloon at the Tank Bund.
