Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said 13 villages under Pulichintala project will face submergence problems.
Talking to mediapersons after holding discussions with Irrigation officials of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State here on Sunday, Harish Rao said six more villages face problems. When brought the issue to the notice of his AP counterpart, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao expressed readiness to pay Rs 40 crore to cater to the problems. “We have asked the AP Government to come forward with suitable compensation to the affected”, he said. Harish Rao exuded confidence that the problems of Nalgonda district will be resolved in coordination with the AP Government. He also said vacant government quarters at Nagarjuna Sagar will be sold out and steps will be taken soon.
The minister said a movement like program involving people, their representatives and officials for restoration of lakes and tanks will be taken up from December. This will help the lakes and ponds to cater to irrigation needs, he said.
The Minister urged the BJP leaders to exert pressure on the Centre and Prime Minister to immediately complete the process of distribution of IAS and IPS among two States. (NSS)
