Mumbai,December 18 :Controversial Pakistani actress Veena Malik, who had gone ‘missing’ from Friday morning while shooting for a film in Goregaon here, has been found at a hotel in Juhu in suburban Mumbai. “Veena Malik is in Oakwood hotel. She has registered in the hotel by her real name Zahida and she has
all the papers. She was unwell for a couple of days,” Machendra Bodke of Juhu police station told media persons.
The actor’s manager Prateik Mehta had claimed that she had gone missing since Friday morning when she was shooting for the film. He had said that he had been trying to contact her ever since then but her phone is switched off.
The actor, who has been in and out of India for film and reality shows, was shooting Mumbai 125 kilometres in Goregaon and left the shoot midway, saying she was not well.
However, the police said that there was no missing person’s complaint registered in this connection.
Malik was recently in the news for posing nude with an ISI tattoo for an Indian magazine.
After finishing this movie, Veena is also slated to appear on Imagine TV’s reality show Swayamvar, where she will be searching for ‘Mr Right
Whiff of publicity stunt as Veena disappears from horror movie set
BOLLYWOOD starlet Veena Malik has gone missing. The Pakistani import has apparently been untraceable for more than 24 hours.
“ It is over 24 hours and we are still searching for her. She is missing and the fact is that we have not been able to trace her till now. We have asked each and every person she knows about her whereabouts, including her parents, but no one has any clue,” Veena’s manager Pratik Mehta said.
According to reports, Veena was shooting for a horror flick, Mumbai 125 Kilometres , at Mumbai’s Film City on Friday when she disappeared.
Some people present on the film set claimed to have seen her leaving in her car.
“ The film’s director, Hemant Madhukar, reportedly got a text message from the actress in which she apologised for leaving the shoot midway. She said she left because she felt disturbed. When Hemant tried calling her after that, her number was unreachable,” a source in the unit said.
Knowing Veena’s penchant for whipping up publicity gimmicks, a section of the industry is taking the news with a pinch of salt.
Many claim it could just be a publicity stunt to promote her horror movie or just to remain in news.
Reports of Veena’s disappearance come close on the heels of the controversy she generated by posing in the nude, with an ISI tattoo on one arm, for a men’s fashion magazine.
Her nude photo on the cover of FHM drew the ire of the moral police in Pakistan and Veena’s father publicly disowned her. She claimed that she never did a nude photo- shoot and that the photo that appeared on the cover was morphed. The magazine refuted her claim.
Veena’s manager denied her disappearance was a publicity stunt.
“ I wish it was a publicity stunt, but sadly it is not,” Mehta said, adding that a missing complaint has been registered at the Bandra police station.
Veena came into the limelight first when she claimed that she was fully aware of her former boyfriend cricketer Mohammad Asif ’ s match- fixing links. Later, she generated hype by getting too intimate on camera with Ashmit Patel on Bigg Boss 4 . She then made news when she agreed to feature in the next season of the reality wedding show, Swayamvar . Veena is reportedly being paid ` 3 crore to select her groom on Indian television. She received a lot of flak in Pakistan for the decision.
But the FHM cover made her an international celebrity and a villain back home in Pakistan. She claim the row over the nude photo shoot had aged her by 10 years.
