Hyderabad, April 18: Paryavarana Parirakshna Sangham will organize a massive public meeting on Monday in Baruva on the eve of entering 500th day of agitation against the establishment of proposed power plant by Nagarjuna Construction Company.
Revolutionary Telugu balladeer Gadar and CPI State secretary K.Narayana will attend the public meeting. Several representatives of various organizations and human right forums will also take part in the meeting.
Before proceeding to Baruva, they will visit ‘deeksha shibiram’ of Paryavarana Parirakshna Sangham which has been relentlessly fighting for scrapping of all the government orders which enabled NCC to acquire land for the construction of power project.
They will also lay foundation stone for the construction of ‘Stupam’ to the memory of persons who died in police firing last year. “The government has not yet announced cancellation of land allocation to NCC. That is why we decided to continue our struggle against the proposed power plant,” said PPS president Dr.Y.Krishna Murthy and General Secretary Beena Dhellirao.
The Paryavarana Parirakshna Sangham alleged that the government had not yet released the compensation to the persons who were injured in police firing. Many of the patients are leading pathetic life as they could not bear the hospital expenses. Representatives of various parties decided to intensify the agitation against Kakarapalli power plant and nuclear power project being proposed at Kovvada of Ranasthalam mandal.
